the meaning behind the name
The name Calico Canon was born from two ideas that define my approach to photography.
Calico refers to a bright, colorful patterned fabric... a blend of textures, tones, and details woven together into something unique. I’m drawn to photographs with those same qualities: rich color, visual interest, and the kind of layered beauty that makes you want to look a little longer.
Canon traditionally means a collection of works. To me, every photograph becomes part of a larger body of stories, memories, and moments. Each image contributes to a growing canon that reflects the people, places, and experiences that matter most.
Together, Calico Canon represents a collection of vibrant, thoughtfully crafted images; photographs that celebrate color, character, and the stories that connect them.
Beautiful things are found in humble little moments. A mother's teary eyes on her daughter's wedding day, hugs exchanged between friends, but also in grand, sweeping floral canopies, and ten thousand twinkle-lights in trees.
